COVID-19 has caused many people to experience sadness, fear, anxiety and loneliness (Leyba, 2020). As a result, people feel anger that COVID-19 has uprooted their normal routines.Their jobs have been displaced. Finances and the normalcy of day-to-day living has changed.
Does this remind you of the Kubler-Ross' stages of grief? The stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Many of us are still at the denial and anger stage. I can't believe this is happening to me or how could I lose so much during this time? There is a shock and disbelief-yearning for the way things use to be. Since many of us are at home, we need to be careful that we don't take our rage out, on our family members. We need to work on gaining awareness for displacing our anger at our child who needs our attention or our spouse for not doing what we need. It is important to deal with our feelings in a healthy way, so we become aware of how we treat ourselves and others. In this way we will we face the anger and grief in ways that are more beneficial and healing, during this trying COVID-19 period.
