Defending a Sex Abuser - Is this Ethical?

Critics of Harvard University's decision to dismiss the prominent law professor, Ronald Sullivan Jr. from his position as a residential dean insist it is a clear infringement of Sullivan's academic freedom (Chronicle of Higher Education, May 24,2019). Particularly the controversy has occurred because Sullivan is one of the lawyers representing alleged sexual abuser and movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Victims of sexual assault and harassment at Harvard said they were not comfortable with Sullivan staying at Harvard.

But critics are condemning Harvard for giving in to the political correctness of students at Harvard, and these critics have said that students need to be made aware that their professors and administrators who are experienced legal representatives, may have high-profile defendants.

Would you approve if your college or university claimed that existing professors or administrators who offered legal representation to clients off campus, interfered with their responsibilities at their college or university?
